Vision-Gard Screens
Vision-Gard screens not only secure your home but also provide a degree of privacy from people outside your home looking in. Vision-Gard screens provide security, privacy and strength, as well as being corrosion resistant and looking great.
Wide Product Range
Vision-Gard Security Screens are primarily designed for front door security. However they are suitable for a wide range of residential applications including:
Hinged Doors: The most common door and has been in existence for a lot longer. A hinged door traditionally has 2-3 hinges on the vertical long edge of the door and is either left or right-handed. A hinged door can be fitted to swing inwards or outwards.
Sliding Doors: A type of door which opens horizontally by sliding, usually horizontal to a wall. Sliding doors can be mounted either on top of a track below or be suspended from a track above.
Security Window Screens: Security screens look like ordinary solar screens but are stronger than bars. The mesh is made from high-tensile strength stainless steel and the frames are aircraft-grade aluminium (the same stuff rockets are made out of!). The security screens mount to the outside of the home.
Vision-Gard Design
Vision-Gard Screens utilise a strong (1.6mm thick) aluminium sheet that is perforated and powder coated in Australia to exacting standards. This mesh works by limiting the field of vision for people on the outside looking in. Vision-Gard works if there is correct lighting allowing a person on the inside to see outside and not be seen from the visitor’s side. The mesh has two options for retaining in the frame:
Retention with our bespoke Wedge PVC pressure retention system.
Retention using rivets into a frame with a covering strip to conceal the rivets.
The resulting screen is strong, extremely resistant to corrosion and provides excellent clarity of vision from the inside looking out.
Key Features
Vision-Gard reduces the vision into the home making it the ideal solution as it offers clarity of vision from inside but prevents prying eyes from outside the home. It’s highly corrosion resistant so it can afford the harsh weather conditions of Australia. The customer has the choice of retention systems so he can put whatever fits to his home. Manufactured exclusively in Australia, Vision-Gard has a wide range of security and screening solutions to choose from depending on the customer’s needs.
Security
Vision-Gard has gone through several tests before coming to your home. One of them is the Australian Standard AS5041 – 2003 Methods of Test – Security Screen Doors and Window Grilles. They were tested on three different types of controls and passed:
Shear Test: This test is performed to determine the shear strength of a material. It measures the maximum shear stress that may be sustained before a material will rupture.
Dynamic Impact Test: There are two main forms of impact test, the Izod and the Charpy test. Both involve striking a standard specimen with a controlled weight pendulum travelling at a set speed. The amount of energy absorbed in fracturing the test piece is measured and this gives an indication of the notch toughness of the test material.
Jemmy Test: This test is designed to simulate an intruder using a lever to get past the security door or window. The test is performed with a large screwdriver at all locking, hinging and fastening points.
Child Fall Prevention
The safety of children in a home is very important. Vision-Gard has also been tested in terms of child safety in Australian Standard AS5203 – 2016 Protection of Openable Windows/Fall Prevention, passed two tests and resisted 250N Outward Force.
Test Sequence: A test sequence consists of test steps arranged in a hierarchy. You can use a test sequence to define test inputs and to define how a test will progress in response to the simulation. A test step contains actions that execute at the beginning of the step.
Compliance Method: The Performance Compliance Method is a point-based system, which indexes and requires a minimum score for safety features across three categories: fire safety, means of egress, and general safety. This method can be used to demonstrate alternative methods to achieve an equivalent level of building safety.
Fire Attenuation
Australia is overwhelmed by many fires every year. Many houses are in danger of burning down and a lot of people are at risk of burning in their own homes. Vision-Gard has also been tested in extreme fire conditions for this exact reason. In Australian Standard AS1530.4-2014 Appendix B7 achieves a fire attenuation rating of up to 75% at 40kW/m2 incident energy, making it an excellent choice if you live in fire prone areas.
