Application

Alu-Grille Security Screens are primarily designed for front door security. However they are suitable for a wide range of residential applications including  Hinged Doors, Sliding Doors, Security Window Screens. Alu-Grille have a 7mm strand thickness and meet the requirements of the Australian Security Door Standard AS5039. To obtain maximum benefit from Alu-Grille®, all doors made incorporating these grilles should also be manufactured to comply with AS5039 and installed to comply with AS5040.

Available with the option of One Way Mesh, Alu Grille are ideal if added privacy is required. This type of Mesh allows you to see out through your door at the same time as reducing the visibility into your house from the outside.

Home safety

It is used for custom-made sliding doors that provide optimum protection and smooth operation.  Adjustment screws for rollers face inside the door out of an intruder's reach. There are also half door panels, added to protect  from the weather, pets and intruders. They fit any style of home because they are available in a wide range of pre-finished colours.

Security

Alu-Grille have gone through several tests before coming to your home. One of them is the Australian Standard AS5041 – 2003 Methods of Test – Security Screen Doors and Window Grilles. They were tested on three different types of controls and passed with flying colours:

• Shear Test: This test is performed to determine the shear strength of a material. It measures the maximum shear stress that may be sustained before a material will rupture.

• Dynamic Impact Test: There are two main forms of impact test, the Izod and the Charpy test. Both involve striking a standard specimen with a controlled weight pendulum travelling at a set speed. The amount of energy absorbed in fracturing the test piece is measured and this gives an indication of the notch toughness of the test material.

• Jemmy Test: This test is designed to simulate an intruder using a lever to get past the security door or window. The test is performed with a large screwdriver at all locking, hinging and fastening points.

Child Fall Prevention

The safety of children in a home is very important. Alu-Grille has also been tested in terms of child safety in Australian Standard AS5203 – 2016 Protection of Openable Windows/Fall Prevention, passed the two following tests and resisted 250N Outward Force.

• Test Sequence: A test sequence consists of test steps arranged in a hierarchy. You can use a test sequence to define test inputs and to define how a test will progress in response to the simulation. A test step contains actions that execute at the beginning of the step.

• Compliance Method: The Performance Compliance Method is a point-based system, which indexes and requires a minimum score for safety features across three categories: fire safety, means of egress, and general safety. This method can be used to demonstrate alternative methods to achieve an equivalent level of building safety.

Technical Specifications

There are 3 types of Alu-Grille to choose whatever you like and fit to your home: Small Diamond, Standard Diamond and Decorative diamond. They are made of tempered Aluminium with thickness 8mm and strand Width 7mm. They are painted with dulux Black Matt for extra durability.
